We design people-centric spaces that nurture communities and heal the environment.

Landscape Design Workshop places human experiences at the heart of every project. Our work transcends mere aesthetics, weaving together functionality, sustainability, and community wellbeing. Every park, plaza, garden and roof terrace we create is designed to enhance people’s wellbeing and quality of life

Landscape Design Workshop is an award-winning landscape architecture design studio with a diverse portfolio spanning various types and scales of projects. Located in Boca Raton, Florida, and led by Erez Bar-Nur, founder and design director, the Atelier studio’s outstanding work has been showcased, published, and honored with national and international awards.

Landscape Design Workshop infuses every project with the following blend of solutions to modern-day community needs and environmental challenges:

Community Wellbeing

Walkability:

Walkability is about creating environments where pedestrians feel safe, comfortable, and connected. Well-designed walkable areas promote health, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance the vibrancy of communities. It’s about enriching the journey. Enhanced walkability can foster stronger community connections, reduce carbon footprints, and promote healthier lifestyles. By creating inviting public spaces, we make walking not just a mode of transport, but a pleasant and integrated part of daily life.

Community Wellbeing

Social Interaction:

Communal green spaces foster social interaction, offering a natural setting for people to gather, converse, and build relationships. We create spaces that promote a sense of community by encouraging outdoor activities, dining experiences, and public gatherings, all aimed at reinforcing neighborhood connections.

Community Wellbeing

Contemplative Spaces:

Outdoor contemplative spaces offer significant mental health benefits by providing a serene environment for reflection and relaxation. These tranquil areas reduce stress and anxiety, promote mindfulness, and enhance overall well-being. Surrounded by nature, people can disconnect from daily pressures, fostering a sense of peace and clarity. By crafting these spaces, we promote a balanced mindset and strengthen emotional resilience.

Extreme Temperature Solutions

Trees:

Street trees are a powerful tool in combating the urban heat island effect. By providing shade, trees reduce surface temperatures on streets and sidewalks, which significantly lower the ambient air temperature. Strategically planting street trees can create cooler microclimates and reduce energy consumption. We integrate trees into our urban landscape design to mitigate extreme temperatures, enhance air quality and improve overall urban livability.

Flooding Solutions

Restored Wetlands:

Restored wetlands are nature's flood defenses, offering a sustainable solution to urban flooding. Beyond flood control, they provide crucial habitats for wildlife and enhance biodiversity. We incorporate restored wetlands into our site planning to showcase how communities can act as stewards of valuable environmental resources.

Flooding Solutions

Bioswales:

Bioswales are a natural and effective solution for managing stormwater runoff. They allow water to infiltrate the ground and reduce the volume and speed of water entering storm drains. Native plants and soil in bioswales filter pollutants from rainwater and replenish groundwater. We incorporated bioswales to improve water quality, mitigate flooding and promote urban biodiversity.

Drought Solutions

Drought-Tolerant Plants:

Native drought-tolerant plants are key to sustainable landscape. These plants are adapted to local climate conditions, requiring minimal water once established. They not only conserve water but also support local wildlife and reduce the need for fertilizers and pesticides. we integrate native drought-tolerant plants into urban landscapes to create greener, more sustainable cities that are better prepared for prolonged dry periods.

Biodiversity Solutions

Pollinator Planting:

Pollinator-friendly plants are vital for boosting biodiversity and for supporting pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. These plants not only ensure the survival of pollinators but also enhance the reproduction of many other plants, leading to a more robust and diverse ecosystem. We introduce pollinator plants into gardens and urban planning to promote ecological balance and thriving natural communities.

Extreme Temperature Solutions

Shade Structures & Canopies:

Shade structures help mitigate the urban heat island effect by lowering ambient temperatures. They protect people from harmful UV rays, reducing the risk of skin cancer. These shade structures enhance outdoor comfort by lowering temperatures by up to 20 degrees. We create comfortable shaded areas to encourage more outdoor activity and social interaction while promoting overall well-being.

Flooding Solutions

Restored Beach Dunes:

Restored beach dunes play a crucial role in coastal ecosystems by acting as natural barriers against storm surges and erosion. They provide vital habitats for various wildlife species, including nesting sites for sea turtles and shelters for small mammals and insects. Dune vegetation stabilizes the shorelines and reinforce the dune structure. We integrate dune planting into our designs to cultivate resilient and thriving coastal ecosystem.
