Landscape Design Workshop Honored in 2024 Architecture MasterPrize™

(Los Angeles, CA– July 9, 2025) Landscape Design Workshop is proud to be recognized in the Architecture MasterPrize™ Book of Winners for its Natura Gardens project, designed for Terra Group. Honored in the Residential Landscape category, the award celebrates the community’s innovative balance of sustainable planning, wellness-driven amenities, and lush tropical design.

Natura Gardens reimagines multifamily living in Miami Lakes by embedding nature into daily life. The design highlights walkable green corridors, shaded courtyards, and resort-style amenities that encourage community interaction while promoting ecological resilience. Native and adaptive plantings reduce water use, while integrated open spaces enhance livability and support biodiversity.

“From the very beginning, our vision was to create a community where people feel connected to both nature and one another,” said Erez Bar-Nur, Principal at Landscape Design Workshop. “Being featured in the Architecture MasterPrize™ Book of Winners affirms the value of designing landscapes that enrich everyday life.”

Landscape Design Workshop extends its appreciation to Terra Group and all collaborators who helped bring Natura Gardens to life.

About the Project

The 30-acre Natura Gardens community in Miami Lakes integrates 10 acres of restored wetlands, striking a careful balance between modern residential needs and environmental leadership. More than a backdrop, the wetlands are restored as a living landscape—one that captures stormwater, fosters biodiversity, and showcases the seasonal rhythms of South Florida’s ecosystem. The design transforms a sensitive natural resource into an everyday educational and sensory experience for residents.

The restored wetlands also serve as a cultural bridge. To honor the traditions of living in harmony with wetlands, the community incorporates chickees—open-air, thatched-roof shelters built in the style of the Indigenous Seminole Tribe. These structures provide shaded gathering places while rooting the community in the region’s cultural history.

By weaving ecology, culture, and livability into the site plan, Natura Gardens demonstrates how development can serve as a custodian of scarce environmental resources. The result is a residential environment where sustainable design and cultural heritage enrich daily life, offering residents both a retreat into nature and a deeper connection to place.
